VCA 2010 is inviting participants to a choral course on liturgical music of Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Republic of Georgia. The course will present opportunities for experienced singers and for individuals with no or limited singing experience to discover the choral art of Dmitry Bortnjansky, Russia’s most renowned liturgical composer, to explore the rich sacred music of Eastern Europe, and the sonorous style of the music from the mountains of Georgia.
Concert Choir: prerequisites - solid music reading skills, experience singing in an auditioned choir, no previous knowledge of any of the studied languages required.
In-depth choral and individual (for soloists) coaching in stylistics of the particular vocal tradition
Extensive study of the most popular liturgical texts of the Eastern Orthodox Church
Performance interpretation in concert and in liturgical settings
Study Choir: prerequisites - previous experience singing in a choir, no previous knowledge of studied languages required.
Choral coaching of selected chants
An opportunity to sing with the Concert Choir
Participation in the final concert
